Konosuba movie watch order1/21/2024 Some hours later, Megumin tells Yunyun privately that Kazuma is a friend, making her determined to remove the choker. Aqua angrily tells him that with just one day left before the choker kills him, he needs to start taking the situation seriously, but Kazuma cannot think of any wishes other than petty degrading requests. That night, Kazuma demands Wiz kiss him, but the girls decide they have taken enough. As he harasses Megumin, the hot spring spouts beneath him, scalding his genitals. The next day Kazuma makes Wiz, Megumin, and Yunyun wash him and Aqua conjure up a natural hot spring in the bathroom while watching Darkness bathe. Kazuma continues to make obnoxious requests the following day, lounging on Wiz's breasts with Aqua fanning him while Darkness does squats and Yunyun and Megumin respectively cosplay in bunny girl costume and school bloomers. Yunyun loses the next round, and furiously starts tearing off Megumin's clothes.Īt the end of the day, the choker has not loosened. Megumin and Yunyun begin purposefully tying every time, but Kazuma decrees that further ties will result in their both striping an article. Kazuma counters that after dying he will reincarnate instead of coming back to fight the Devil King and pay off their debt, so Aqua declares that they will do whatever he wants in hopes of fulfilling his wish.īack at the mansion, Kazuma takes advantage of the situation, ordering Wiz to let him nap on her lap (in Japan, this activity is commonly associated with lovers), Darkness to do push-ups and sit-ups without armour, Aqua to buy him yakisoba bread and bubbly, and Megumin and Yunyun to play strip rock-paper-scissors. With Kazuma having no idea of what wish he made, all the girls blame themselves and promise to help remove the choker, except for Aqua, who points out she did nothing wrong and can just resurrect Kazuma if he dies. Otherwise it slowly tightens, choking the wearer to death in 4 days. A dismayed Wiz informs him that the choker, which is popular among women on diets, cannot be taken off until the wearer's wish is fulfilled. While Megumin and Yunyun scuffle, and Darkness is occupied with serving tea to an indignant Aqua and answering Darkness's questions about a potion that attracts monsters, Kazuma tries on the choker. He picks up the choker, said to grant wishes. Megumin loses her patience and starts shaking Yunyun, causing her to drop the choker and sending things flying at an exasperated Kazuma who wants some comfort. Darkness invites Yunyun to visit their mansion, and Yunyun asks if she is just being polite. Upon Wiz revealing Yunyun hangs out at the shop solely in the hope of bumping into Megumin, Yunyun in embarrassment randomly pulls out a choker from the shelves in an attempt to pretend to be a customer. Kazuma brings his party to Wiz's Shop, where Yunyun peers at them from behind some shelves before jumping out to challenge Megumin. But will even that be enough to make the choker come off? After trying it on casually, he runs into big trouble: it's a magical choker designed to make wishes come true, and until his wish does come true, it's going to keep tightening around his neck until he's strangled to death! The others work hard to help make his "dreams" come true so that the choker will come loose, with Wiz offering her thighs as pillows, Darkness doing push ups to make her chest sway, and Megumin and Yunyun engaged in strip rock paper scissors. Annoyed at the increased noise level brought on by additional company, Kazuma notices a choker at his feet. The party ends up running into Megumin's self-proclaimed rival, Yunyun, during a trip to Wiz's shop.

But then we thought back on the earlier GT 350s and realized that what the old Shelby Mustang does with difficulty, the GT 500 does easily. That's only 2/10ths of a second quicker than the Mustang 390 automatic ( C/D, November '65) and last year's GT 350H automatic ( C/D, May '66), and not quite as fast as the original GT 350 4- speed ( C/D, May '65). And when it only turned 15.0 at 95, we were a bit disappointed. So we braced ourselves when we stuck our editorial foot into the first production GT 500. And the same car cut a quarter-mile in 13.6 seconds at 106 mph. Seven liters in a Mustang! The early GT 500 engineering prototype was the fastest car ever to lap Ford’s twisty handling loop, except for the GT 40s, of course. The GT 500 is not a racing car, although but for a few subtle differences its engine is the same as the one that propelled Shelby’s Fords to victory at Le Mans. It’s noisy, balky, and an oil burner at normal highway speeds. Few people would be happy with the 427 unless they were racing it. The 428 is a passenger-car engine, and nearly $1000 cheaper than the 427. The 427 is a racing engine, full of the kind of intestinal fortitude that makes it capable of enduring 500 miles at Daytona and 24 hours at Le Mans. Both have the same external dimensions, but the 427 is more oversquare, with a bore and stroke of 4.23 x 3. In fact, they are two entirely different engines. That sounds like a hair better than the 427. Please note that the Cobra Le Mans engine displaces 428 cubic inches. Somebody is telling a little white half-truth. The car is called the GT 500 and its engine is called the Cobra Le Mans. Why not, reasoned Shelby, use this engine in the '67 Shelby Mustang? Why not indeed. Ford also builds a 428 V-8 on the same block with a bore and stroke of 4.13 x 3.98 inches. Which is the whole point of 7-liter Fords, Cobras, and now, Shelby Mustangs.įor '67, Ford offered the Mustang with their tried-and-true 390 V-8, which has a bore and stroke of 4.05 x 3. 485–but it was much more tautly stressed and, therefore, fragile. The Italian engine developed almost as much horsepower as the Ford–425 hp vs. Ferrari V-12s with multiple carburetion and four overhead camshafts. What the 427s had beaten was a team of 270 cu. A year later, Ford 427s swept the first three places at the French classic, with Shelby’s two entries dead-heating the final lap. The Europeans hooted and jeered at the bulky, heavy, unsophisticated V-8 with its pushrods and single four-barrel carburetor. That June, at Le Mans, two of Ford’s rear-engined GT prototypes appeared with the big 427 instead of the 289. Early in 1965, Shelby announced the Cobra II with a 427 cu. By the end of the season, at Nassau, he had another one bolted together. The experiment came to rest, sorely bent, against a palm tree, but Miles persisted. At Sebring in 1964, he shoehorned a Ford 427 NASCARized engine into a Cobra roadster. One of the more expensive ways was the Daytona coupe body. When the Cobra 289 peaked out on the racetrack, there were several ways of making it go faster–most expensive, one cheap. The old corollary to that old adage, “There’s no substitute for cubic inches,” is “except rectangular money”–and who would know better than Carroll Shelby. Dialogue tags punctuation1/21/2024 Then Abbey said, “Are you trying to trick me?"įinally, if someone is, for example, asking a question, you should always use a proper question mark at the end of the line of dialogue, and then add your _ said as if you had used a comma (ie, with a lowercase he said or she said rather than a capitalized He said or She said). Is it yours?”įinally, you can put the dialogue tag in front of the dialogue, though this is a less conventional approach, so it should be used with care. The man gripped her elbow, steadying her. As I noted earlier, this breaks up the dialogue and can make it feel more natural, since most people don’t speak super-fast without taking pauses. You can also include information on what’s happening before or during the dialogue. Right: She offered him a halfhearted shrug. Wrong: She offered him a halfhearted shrug, “Guess I got lucky.” Right: “Not even one.” She offered him a halfhearted shrug. Wrong: “Not even one,” she offered him a halfhearted shrug. A lot of writers try to follow dialogue with a comma and then an action, but you can’t speak an action. Note, however, that in the example above there should be a period at the end of the line of dialogue, not a comma, the way there is when the dialogue is followed with _ said. “I’m sorry I’m late.” She shuffled her feet, avoiding his eyes. Sometimes you don’t even need the “she said” part: She shuffled her feet, avoiding his eyes. This helps bring the scene to life for the reader. In many cases you may be better off showing the character doing an action. “I’m sorry I’m late,” she said regretfully. You may feel like you need to use such strong verbs regularly to show your characters’ emotions, but you’re usually better off adding a brief sentence that shows the character’s body language or actions instead. These stand out in a big way, and can be very distracting for the reader, particularly when your writing is peppered with them. You should use other tags-like shouted, screamed, bellowed, sobbed, sang, blurted, whispered, wailed-sparingly. This keeps it from feeling redundant, even if it’s used frequently. In other words, as readers, we’re so used to seeing it that we don’t really notice it while we’re reading. “I lost track of the time.”Īs I mentioned above, said is the most common dialogue tag, because it disappears for the reader. If someone new has several lines to say, and it’s probably not going to be entirely clear who’s speaking until you reach the _ said tag, then you should insert the dialogue tag after the first sentence of his or her speech, like this: I was starting to worry about you.”īy that third line, “I had my phone on,” we may want to add a sentence tag back in (“I had my phone on,” she said), both to keep the reader from getting lost and to break the dialogue up a bit. “I wish you’d called to let me know you were going to be late. If you do, the reader will start to get confused.įor example, if we pick up where we stopped with June and David’s conversation: However, you may not be able to go more than a few lines without some kind of indication of who’s speaking. We know that June and David are the only people involved in this conversation, so once June starts speaking again, we don’t have to tag her dialogue. In the third sentence, we skipped the dialogue tag completely, because it’s unnecessary. That way everyone knows which characters are involved in the scene. In this example, we tag both June’s dialogue and David’s dialogue with their names. “I just ran by the grocery store on the way home.” Let’s pretend for the example below that we’ve just started a new scene: He said and she said are the most common dialogue tags, though if it’s not completely clear who’s speaking when you use he said or she said, it’s time to use your characters’ names. You should use a dialogue tag anytime it’s not completely clear who is speaking.Ī dialogue tag lets the reader know who’s speaking. Here are some of the most common errors I see, and how to correct them. Dialogue can be tough, but for a lot of writers, tagging and punctuating it correctly is even harder. Never caught by erica dunbar1/21/2024 Annette Gordon Reed, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Hemings of Monticelloĭunbar has teased out Ona Judge from the shadows of history and given us a determined woman who rejected life as a slave in the comfortable household of George Washington for the risks of freedom. There is no way to really know the Washingtons without knowing this story.” With vivid prose and deep sympathy, Dunbar paints a portrait of woman whose life reveals the contradictions at the heart of the American founding: men like Washington fought for liberty for themselves even as they kept people like Ona Staines in bondage. Never Caught is the compelling story of Ona Judge Staines, the woman who successfully defied George and Martha Washington in order to live as free woman. Nell Irvin Painter, author of Sojourner Truth, A Life, A Symbol Here is Ona Judge’s (successful) quest for freedom, on one side, and, on the other, George and Martha Washington’s (vain) use of federal power to try to keep her enslaved.” Totally engrossing and absolutely necessary for understanding the birth of the American Republic, Never Caught is richly human history from the vantage point of the enslaved fifth of the early American population. Eric Foner, Pulitzer Prize-winning author of The Fiery Trial and Gateway to Freedom Beautifully written and utilizing previously untapped sources it sheds new light both on the father of our country and on the intersections of slavery and freedom in the flawed republic he helped to found.” An in-demand speaker on the lecture circuit, Dunbar gives audiences an intimate look at the often-overlooked stories that make our country’s history so richly diverse.Ī fascinating and moving account of a courageous and resourceful woman. In 2011, she also became the Inaugural Director of the Program in African American History at the Library Company of Philadelphia, a position she held until 2018. Dunbar’s first book, A Fragile Freedom: African American Women and Emancipation in the Antebellum City, was published by Yale University Press in 2008.Īn accomplished scholar, Dunbar was named the National Director of the Association of Black Women Historians (ABWH) in 2019, an organization dedicated to continuing the advancement for the study of black women’s history. She Came to Slay is an accessible and modern interpretation of Tubman’s life that reveals little known facts about one of our nation’s true heroes. Not only did Tubman help to liberate hundreds of slaves, she was the first woman to lead an armed expedition during the Civil War, worked as a spy for the Union Army, was a fierce suffragist, and was an advocate for the aged. Dunbar gives readers a glimpse into the life of a little-known, but powerful figure in American history and the ensuing manhunt led by George Washington, who used his political and personal contacts to recapture his property.ĭunbar’s most recent book, She Came to Slay: The Life and Times of Harriet Tubman, is a lively, informative, and illustrated tribute to one of the most exceptional women in American history whose fearlessness and activism still resonate today. A startling and eye-opening look into America’s First Family, Never Caught tells the story of Ona Judge, George and Martha Washington’s runaway slave who risked it all to escape the nation’s capital and reach freedom. She is the author of Never Caught: The Washingtons’ Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge, which was a finalist for the 2017 National Book Award for Nonfiction and received the 2018 Frederick Douglass Book Award.
